Hello, explorers! Welcome to the rainforest. It’s warm and wet here, and full of life! Yesterday, I was walking through the forest when I saw something amazing. The birds were chirping loudly in the Emergent layer, and a monkey was swinging in the Canopy. Click a hotspot to start your adventure!

Play again!
Life in the Leaves
The Canopy is the busiest part of the rainforest! More animals live here than in any other layer because there is plenty of food.
The Big Spider
Watch your step! Many big spiders live down here on the Forest Floor. This spider was waiting quietly for a bug to walk into its web.
The Jaguar
Shhh! We saw a jaguar in the Understory layer. It was hiding silently behind a large fern, waiting for its dinner.
The Understory
This middle layer is called the Understory. It is below the thick leaves, so it is usually dark, wet, and cool here. The trees in this section are smaller than the ones above.
The Snake
Snakes are excellent climbers. You can find them in the Canopy and the Understory. This snake was sleeping on a branch when we walked by!
The Tree Frog
Can you spot the frog? Tree frogs live in the Canopy layer. Yesterday, this little frog was jumping from leaf to leaf looking for insects to eat.
The Dark Ground
Very little sunlight reaches the Forest Floor. Many insects, spiders, and small animals live down here among the tree roots and dead leaves.
The Emergent Layer
This is the very top layer of the rainforest. It is very sunny and windy here. Large birds love to fly high above the trees!
The Monkey
(Grammar Focus) Look at this busy monkey! Yesterday, it was swinging quickly from branch to branch looking for fruit in the Canopy layer.
