Image viewer demonstration

Here is another demonstration video. This time, someone is using the image viewer to review a planned dose distribution, making use of several tools described in the presentation.

The image viewer can be accessed by selecting the 'Image Viewer' tab from a patient workspace. In a Plan Intent workflow, before a plan has been optimized, this workspace can be used to visualize planning CT images and structures. In a Plan Review workflow, the dose distrubution can also be visualized

The tools selection button allows us to control the function of clicking and dragging the left mouse button The options are: Slice tool - scroll through slices Zoom tool - zoom in and out Pan tool - pan the view Snap tool - snap to the cursor location in all views W/L tool - change the image window and level

The layout selection button allows us to choose the image viewer layout. The options are: Four pane - 3D view and slices Slices - Horizontal, Vertical, Large Axial Single Pane - 3D, Axial, Sagittal, Coronal

The dose options icon lets us choose whether dose is displayed, whether the dose is for the whole treatment course or a selected plan, whether dose is displayed as isodose lines or a colour wash, whether the isodose levels are displayed as cGy or %, and to set the isodose levels in cGy or %. Colours can be set for the isodose levels, and levels can be deleted.

The toggle cursor icon will toggle the display of the cursor lines which indicate the slice location (also on the other 2D views).

The toggle overlays icon will toggle the overlays display, including slice annotations and isodose level key.

The fit to viewport icon will return all zoomed view to their default.

The next/previous slice arrows navigate the selected view slice by slice.

Other options in the 3D view include:

  • Left-click-and-drag on the image to rotate it about an axis perpendicular to the drag direction.
  • Left click and repeatedly move the mouse in a circular motion (clockwise or anticlockwise) to rotate the image about an axis perpendicular to the screen.
  • Shift-left-click-and-drag on the image to move it.
  • Use the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

Other options in the 2D view include:

  • Left-click-and-drag on the image behaves as set by the Tools icon.
  • Shift-left-click-and-drag on the image to move it.
  • Use the mouse wheel to scroll through slices.
  • Ctrl-mouse wheel on the image to zoom in and out while centered on the cursor location.

As we have seen in the results tab, the structures window can also be used to select which structures are displayed in the image viewer.
