Jacques Cartier (a French explorer), made 3 voyages to Canada and claimed the land for the King of France.

French colonization of Canada. The British colonized Canada too. It led to conflicts and battles.
17th Century
Treaty of Paris. France sold all the canadian territories to the British. Canada became only a British territory.

British colonies in Canada became a Dominion. It means they became more independent.
