a FICTIONAL CIVILIZATION
What is Ængliscea?
Ængliscea was a civilization believed to be founded around 1800 BC in modern-day England. Its name comes from the words english (Ænglisc), and river (ēa), due to its foundation near the Thames River.
Ængliscean Culture
Their culture was based on social structures, rituals and settlement, along with other key elements. We will speak about the following:
Royalty
Social Structure
The social structure of the aeglisceans were quite similar to the ones when monarchies were popular amongst the world. We will be naming and explaining them top to bottom.
Loyalty
Lowerty
Slaves
Royalty
Royalty was the wealthiest and most powerful class, they were respected by the rest of the nation and held tons of political power. A representation of the coat of arms one of the governing royal families could have used is shown on the right side of the screen.
Loyalty
Loyalty was mainly composed of people trusted enough by royalty to be given this social status. It was formed by loyal military generals, priests and nobility.
Lowerty
Lowerty, on the other hand, was the rest of the population who wasn't that trusted by royalty. They had to pay more taxes than average and was composed of workers, citizens and slaves.
Worship
AEnglisceans generally had a pagan religion and believed in multiple gods, like Sunne, the god of the sun, Felth, the godess of land, and Waeter, the godess of the ocean. These gods didn't have a physical form but were still omniscient.
Alphabet
The AEngliscean alphabet used a system of hieroglyphs and simple drawings to express an idea. Multiple texts using its alphabet:

"An elder sits by a river"
"A couple saw a valley"
Written laws
Many AEngliscean laws were lost through time, but some were recovered and found by archeologists. Here are examples of AEngliscean laws.
"People will not kill"
Citizens of AEngliscea are strictly forbidden from murdering others. Infringement will result in lifetime jail.
"People will not steal"
Stealing the property of fellow peoples will result in around 10 years in prison and will also have to pay for the stolen goods.
AEngliscean art
AEngliscean art was usually found in walls, pillars and structures for decoration. Sometimes, art was also made to appease Royalty like this drawing recovered from the civilization:

Not only did AEngliscea have culture, they also had history. We can see a brief timeline of AEngliscea here:
AEngliscean customs
AEngliscea celebrated festivities of worship about their gods, which would take place in the believed days a major positive event would occur in their mythology. Festivals were also set up in honor of royalty and their actions in the civilization depending on how good they were.
Other AEngliscean facts
- Currency: Copper and Silver
- Food: Crops, fruits, animals, etc.
- Advancements: Irrigation techniques near the modern day Thames river, architectural improvements, etc.
- Education: "Good quality" education only for loyalty and royalty, and "bad quality" education for lowerty.
