Why This Matters

Scammers often target kids and gamers by sending messages that look real and sound urgent. Scammers usually target kids not becasue you do anything wrong, but because they know what's important to you. Scammers will target gamers because they know you enjoy gaming and enjoy things like character skins, modifications, rare items, etc.

Social Engineering

Social Engineering is when someone tries to manipulate or tries to trick you into first trusting them and then getting you to do something for them like giving them your password to an account you use. Examples: - Someone using guilt or emotion to try and get you to do something for them. - Someone in game pretends to be an administrator and tells you that they need your password to fix a bug in the server.

Phishing

Phishing is a type of social engineering where a scammer sends you a fake message, email, or link to get access to private information, accounts, or devices. Examples: - A scammer sending you a direct message pretending to be from Roblox, Minecraft, or another trusted source. - A family member receives a message sayig that they just won $1,000 and that they need to enter their bank account information to claim their reward.

Real administrators or moderators will never contact you in chat. 4) Spelling mistakes on Websites, URLs, usernames, or email addresses. 5) Promises of free things.
