Second online meeting

In our second online meeting through WhatsApp, we rehearsed the oral presentation for the following Monday, December 1st. We got an overall picture of the final version of each other’s teaching unit and suggested changes for improvement. It was very useful to explain the teaching unit in front of a real audience in order to feel less nervous for the oral presentation day.

Thrid online session

During our third online meeting, after the Christmas break, we met Marina for the first time. We shared the big picture of our teaching unit with our new study buddy, and she explained hers to us. We talked about our first days of the internship and the implementation of the first session of our teaching unit: how we felt, the challenges we encountered, and what we would change, etc. We also suggested improvements and gave advice to each other. We had so many things to talk about that, in the end, we forgot to take a screenshot!

New Study Budy!

During the Christmas break, our teacher sent us an email introducing our new study buddy. From that moment on, Marina joined our study buddy meetings. We added her to our WhatsApp group chat and sent her a welcome message. Moreover, we agreed on a date for an online meeting.

Meeting my study buddy

We met for the first time in class and introduced ourselves. My study buddy is Ariana, an exchange student from Romania. She is living in a shared flat in Barcelona and is enjoying her experience of living abroad so far. Afterwards, we asked each other some questions about our first impressions of the school internship. We agreed that teachers try to connect content to students’ contexts in order to attract their attention and make learning more meaningful. What’s more, we observed that teachers establish an emotional relationship with students beyond simply teaching content.

Last video call!

In our last online meeting, we talked about our overall experience during the internship and the implementation of our teaching unit. What’s more, we shared our ideas for the study buddy final reflection and expressed our feelings about how the study buddy experience has helped us and what could be improved.

First video call!

We had a video call through WhatsApp to talk about our internship experience and personal thoughts: how we were feeling, what difficult situations we had overcome, and ideas for our teaching unit. Moreover, we shared the assessment tools our schools use and discussed the assessment tools we would like to include in our teaching unit.

In-person meeting

We met in person during our Practicum IV lesson on Monday at 17:30. During that time, we shared the SWBAT of our teaching units and helped each other improve them. Ariana had some difficulties understanding the Catalan Curriculum because she had never used it before. For this reason, I showed her where to find the correct information she needed to write her learning objectives and shared my own SWBAT as an example.

WhatsApp group chat

Apart from the in-person and online meetings we kept constant contact through WhatsApp. We have a group chat in which we asked questions about our concerns and doubts, kept updated, agreed on videocall meetings, and share our progress.
