A Letter from the Royal Palace

A Letter from the Royal Palace

The Royal Palace Castle Way Mighty Kingdom CW1 2MK

Dear citizen of the land, Over many years, I’ve been planning a great and wonderful new law for everyone in this mighty kingdom to follow. I, your majestic and wise king, am the bearer of a great plan. I propose that we ban all the miserable darkness from this magnificent land. This letter sets out some powerful reasons why.

First of all, and perhaps most importantly, you can’t see in the dark. The dark is unhelpful because you might not be able to notice things that get in your way. Toys could be lurking on the floor or a pair of socks could be waiting to trip you up. It is only in the light when we can see around us clearly. Wouldn’t you agree?

In addition to this, the dark is completely and utterly dull. You cannot do anything fun if you can’t see. In the blackness, you can’t find the toys you love to play with, you’re not allowed to visit your friend’s house and you cannot even read your favourite book. It only brings sadness, disappointment and boredom.

Finally, the dark is full of sneaky creatures. Do you recall all those strange noises you hear at night? They’re animals of the night, like foxes, racoons and bats. Worse than that, burglars creep around in suspicious shadows so they can’t be seen. Banning the dark would remove this problem for you all.

I, your great and caring leader, order all darkness to be banned from our noble country by the end of the month. You will suffer a great punishment if you are found breaking the new law. You don’t want to be punished, do you? Yours sincerely, The Glorious King of the Mighty Kingdom
