“If you had $20 right now, what would you do with it?"

context about th pic at hand

Its not about how much. Its about the choice.

What you'll learn today

1. Needs vs Wants

2. Budgeting

3. The three ways to use money

What is a budget? A budget is a way to keep track of your money coming in and out. Every Budget tracks the 2 types of spending.

NEEDS

WANTS

Things you have to spend money on

NEEDS

Expenses required to live and function in everyday life - Rent - Transportation - Phone bill - Food Think of 3 needs that you have...

WANTS

Not bad... but needs a limit

Optional spending that makes you happy - Dunkin Donuts - Nike Sneakers - Chipotle - Spotify Premium Think of your own wants?

We call wants discretionary spending

Saving-Goals

If you skip this, budgets will feel pointless...

Money set aside for future wants/needs - Dream Sneakers - Trendy Water Bottle - College Fees - Emergencies - Car - Trip What is one thing you would save for?

Most people don’t run out of money because they don’t have enough. They run out because they don’t have a plan.”

Now lets build a budget

If spend $50,what are you giving up later?

A budget helps you be intentional with where your money goes. It helps you avoid spending too much and makes sure your needs are covered.

$30 Needs

$10 Wants

$10 Save/Goals

- Save so that when you want to spend on wants in the future, you will have the funds

- Lunch - School Supplied - Clothes - Family

- Ice cream - Dunkin Donuts - New Basketball

You can spend all of it on wants. But the catch is... every dollar you spend is a dollar you can't spend on something else We call these decisions trade-offs

The three ways to use money... 3 ways.
