The Troubles

The Belfast's wall, also called the Peace Wall, separates Catholic and Protestant neighbourhoods. It was built to reduce violence between the two communities. Today, it's a symbol of the division caused by the Troubles in northern Ireland.

The film Belfast shows the Troubles through the eyes of a child. It focuses on a family living in Belfast at the beginning of the conflict. The film shows how violence affected ordinary people on their life.

The Troubles were a violent conflict in Northern Ireland from the late 1960s to 1998.It opposed two communities : - Catholics / Nationalists who wanted a united Ireland - Protestants / Unionists who wanted to stay in the United Kingdom

These murals show the deep division between the two camps. Each community used street art to express their identity, political ideas and emotions. Murals were part of everyday life and always remining the conflict to people.
