The event opened with Christina Makarova setting the strategic context, introducing the broader European EdTech Ecosystem and the project’s mission to foster cooperation between key stakeholders: educators, ministries of education, researchers, and EdTech developers.
This was immediately followed by Veronica Tarus (Startup Moldova), who presented an insightful overview of the "Moldova Startup Ecosystem: Evolution & Development". She confirmed the strong potential of the EdTech vertical, noting that it includes 14 startups, generates over $1 million in revenue, and has attracted over $1.9 million in funding. Veronica also outlined the 5 Core Pillars of support—including Finance, EdTech, and MarTech—designed to accelerate the growth of these startups.
The local entrepreneurial voice was strong, led by successful Moldovan founder Vitalii Petrosyan (Founder of Langly.ai). Petrosyan shared his experience of piloting his solution with the Ministry of Research and Education in Moldova, reaching more than 10,000 students in more than 160 schools, proving that there is a good climate and support available for founders in Moldova. At the same time, he pointed out the challenges of securing funding for the company's further growth and implementing it beyond the pilot due to a lack of infrastructure, especially in rural areas.
This local expertise was then complemented by our Supportive Partner from Romania, CiTyINNOHub. Iulia Dinca shared insights on project implementation, while Gabriela Badea, coordinator of the CiTyINNOEDU Community, highlighted the value of building strong educational innovation networks. As a European Digital Innovation Hub, CiTyINNOHub's contribution emphasises that collaboration and community building are essential for market access and sustainable growth. The key takeaway: community is build around an actual need and the purpose of driving a positive change supported by access to the European network, drives exponential growth.
