The culture
🏠 Cool houses: Because it is very hot and rainy, houses are made of wood and straw. They are built on tall stilts so they don’t flood and so air can flow through. 🛶 Rivers as roads: There are not many roads, so people travel by boat or canoe on the rivers. 🍌 Natural food: People eat what the jungle gives them, like cassava, bananas, fruit, and river fish. They also grow cocoa to make chocolate.
👕 Light clothes: They wear thin, light clothes because it is very hot and humid. 🌳 Care for nature: They know a lot about plants and use them as medicine when someone is sick.
Their tribes
The most famous tribes in Ecuador's equatorial climate include indigenous peoples such as the Kichwa, Shuar, Huaorani, and Achuar.
Ecuador is home to various indigenous tribes that live in the equatorial climate, mainly in the Amazon region, each with its own culture and traditions.
Flora
The flora of the equatorial climate is divided into three types: 1. 🌱 Forest canopy: The forest is organized in layers, each with plants adapted to different light: Emergent: giant trees that exceed 50 m, such as the Ceiba. Canopy: trees of 30–40 m, such as the Mahogany and the Rubber. Understory: smaller trees and shrubs adapted to low light. Ground: ferns, herbaceous plants, fungi, and lianas that climb towards the light. 2. 🌿 Typical plants: Fruit trees: cacao, banana, avocado. Palm trees: such as the oil palm. Epiphytic plants: bromeliads, orchids, which grow on other plants without parasitizing them. Lianas and vines that seek the light by climbing the trunks. 3. 🌾 Adaptations: Large leaves to capture light in the understory. Straight, tall trunks to compete for light. Deep or shallow root system depending on the species. Colorful fruits to attract animals that disperse seeds.
The equatorial climate, typical of areas such as the Amazon, Congo and Indonesia, is characterized by being warm and humid all year round, without true seasonal seasons such as winter or summer.

Economic activities
1. Agriculture The warm, humid conditions and abundant rainfall support crops like: Cocoa – grown extensively in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. Coffee – especially in regions of Indonesia and Brazil. Oil palm – common in Southeast Asia.
💰
2. Fishing Rivers, lakes, and coastal areas provide abundant fish. Subsistence fishing is common in rural areas, while commercial fishing occurs near coasts.
3. Mining Equatorial soils contain gold, diamonds, bauxite, and iron. Oil and natural gas are also found in parts of Africa and Southeast Asia. Mining is challenging in dense forests with limited infrastructure.
