Usine à Gaz
L’usine à gaz de Lisieux a été construite en 1843 par l’ingénieur Leroux, spécialisé dans les usines à gaz d’Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime), pour la « Société en commandite pour l’éclairage au gaz de la ville de Lisieux ». C’était une installation industrielle destinée à produire du gaz manufacturé à partir du charbon pour l’éclairage public et privé de la ville, pendant la période avant l’électrification généralisée. Le site comprenait une chaufferie en brique, des ateliers de fabrication (salles des fours), un logement , un bureau, ainsi qu’une remise. L’usine a subi un incendie en 1855, puis plusieurs extensions et reconstructions vers 1860 et 1874.
Usine De Blanchiment
L’usine de blanchiment, située au 5 rue Gaudien à Lisieux, était une installation industrielle du XIXᵉ siècle spécialisée dans le blanchiment de fils (lin et coton), c’est-à-dire un traitement textile destiné à éclaircir ou purifier les matières fibres avant fabrication. À l’origine, elle appartenait aux héritiers Groult d’Orival vers 1830 et fut plusieurs fois agrandie au cours du siècle : ajout de séchoirs et extensions d’ateliers. À partir de 1897, elle réceptionnait les fils produits par d’autres usines textiles (notamment à Orbec et Saint-Martin-de-Bienfaite-la-Cressonnière) pour les blanchir. L’activité a cessé après 1918 et l’édifice a été détruit pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale (en 1944). Aujourd’hui, il subsiste seulement quelques bâtiments résiduels, comme deux anciens logements, une remise et un transformateur datant d’après la fin de l’activité industrielle.
Usine Mommers
L’usine est créée en 1864 par Méry Samson, Beau Samson et Fleuriot, en remplacement d’une filature incendiée, et se situe 20–22 rue Rose Harel, au bord de la Touques à Lisieux. Elle comprenait tout le cycle textile : dégraissage de la laine, carderie, filature, foulage, teinturerie, tissage et magasins, avec installations énergétiques importantes (turbine hydraulique, machine à vapeur). À partir de 1882, l’entreprise est exploitée par Jean et Chrétien Mommers, locataires, puis achetée par eux en 1910. L’usine produisait draps imprimés, étoffes unies et feutre tissé, et employait plusieurs centaines d’ouvriers (jusqu’à environ 500 vers 1927). Après plusieurs incendies et reconstructions au début du XXᵉ siècle, l’activité textile cesse vers 1964.
