Sports section editor
"I make pages regarding different sports throughout the year for each deadline, which involves interviewing, writing, looking through photos and designing. As a section editor, we have more responsibilities in helping first-year staffers create their own pages and checking them before they go to the Editors-in-Chief."
Laila Hakki, Senior
Marketing co-chief
"A lot of the stuff we do in the beginning of the year is mainly just making posts, whether that be Instagram reels, TikToks or just Instagram posts. We also do decorative art pieces, like chalk art on the sidewalks. We have been trying to do a themed window for every holiday, to market the yearbook in a more fun way. Towards the end of the year, we start doing spreads, which include senior ads and business ads."
Aria Jin, Senior
People Section Editor
"I’m in the people section, which does the designs and random content for the pages of people’s yearbook pictures. Instead of just having pages and pages of grids for people’s faces, the pages are split in half for our mods [modules]. We try to make these pages as fun as possible. I think we’re probably the best section at representing the general student population, not just focusing on clubs and sports, so our modules can be more entertaining and humorous. For example, I did a page on things people found
in school, and they came up with some crazy things. One guy gave his friend a bag of opened chips he found in school, so I think that sums up how my pages can be pretty interesting."
"As a people section editor, I talk to a lot of people, but it’s still my favorite part about being in yearbook. Especially, being in such a big school, I find it really fun to find out about the people I usually just walk past in the hallways. For some interviews, I’ll keep talking to the interviewee after I’ve already gotten the content I need because their stories are either hilarious or intriguing."
Annie Tsang, Senior
Marketing co-chief
"Laila and I work together and share each other's responsibilities. We lead the fun garage campaigns, where we put candies with little flyers on everyone's car and try to get people to buy their yearbook. We also contact parents and restaurants to sponsor us."
Ryan Wexler, Junior
Design Head
"There's two main things that I do:One of them is designing and interviewing people for infographic style pages. They're conceptual pages that are more specific to this year. My other job will be creating and coloring in the full book links. The full book link is something that's the same on every single page- or is relating to the theme."
"One of the pages I'm really proud of that I worked on last school year was the superstitions page, which was interesting because we had to come up with what would go on that page and questions to ask. It was really enjoyable getting to hear a lot of people's opinions, because a lot of people think very differently on topics like that. It was really interesting to get to hear how some people believed in fate or destiny, or they were really into their astrology sign."

"I am one of three photo liaisons. I control the cameras, like the checkout process and inventory. I make sure that all the batteries are charged, all the cameras are in order and the overall organization of the camera cabinet.I also control the Google Calendar with events, so that not only photographers- but other yearbook staffers know the events going on and times."

"Last year, there was an interactive page about pets that I’m most proud of. It was about matching the pet to the story, and I definitely met some obstacles that I had never considered before. Yearbook has standards for pictures, so I [had] to get a photographer to go to someone’s house. In the aquatics class, I had my photographer get a few pictures of a clownfish and an eel, which was a bit weird. They wouldn’t stay still, so it took a few tries to finally get a good picture. For a hamster, which actually passed a few years ago. I had to use a picture from the interviewee, which was probably a ‘first’ in yearbook. In the end, getting through all the stories and pictures with one of my best designs made it something I’m most proud of accomplishing in yearbook."
Last Year's Full Book Link
"Last year's theme was 'Before you go'. We had a little silhouette drawing of a person, and their quote was, 'Before I go, I want to…,' and then it was whatever they wanted to accomplish before they left Bellaire. They're on the bottom right corner of each page and every page has that same thing on there."

"In regards to TikToks and Instagram posts, we try to stay with what's trending every single day. As we're scrolling through our Instagrams and TikToks, we'll send each other ideas on a big group chat of what we think could be altered in a way that would best fit yearbook and try to approve one idea."
"This year I really liked lacrosse. It was my favorite page to design. I didn't know a lot about the sport before I started covering it, so I had to learn the stick names, the positioning and how they actually play. I went on YouTube and watched some highlights. It looks pretty interesting now."
Emily Zhu, Sophomore
Clubs Editor
"I make different pages about clubs. I try to prioritize showing different clubs and their activities and meetings. I had a page about Europe where I had to write about Italian Club, French Club and Russian Club. If they have performances, we cover those too. Basically, I have to write and do the design for everything on the page except for illustrations and photos."

"I did marketing because I did yearbook in middle school, and I thought it was really fun. In middle school, we did fun skits on Instagram, so I thought that it'd be fun to do it in high school too. I talked to the marketing chief in my sophomore year, and she really liked yearbook and recommended it to me."
"In regards to Tiktoks and Instagram posts, we try to stay with what's trending every single day. As we're scrolling through our Instagrams and Tiktoks, we'll send each other [ideas] on a big group chat of what we think could be altered in a way that would best fit yearbook and try to approve one idea."
"For most of the year, people don't get to see what we've been working on. Seeing the yearbook at the end of the year when everyone is excited to get their hands on one and having all of our efforts come to life in an end product is definitely my favorite part. Seeing people talk about your pages and the content of who you covered in it and how the design ended up coming out is rewarding."
"My favorite accomplishment is the eMotion and theater pages from this year. I think they look super visually sound and the content was very nice. They're also a few of my first black out pages, which means that the background is black, so they stand out. There are only a couple of those in the entire book, so I think it really enhances the entire page. Those were my best pages throughout my two years in yearbook."
