Advent Day 11 - 12 Days of Christmas Workout
It’s day eleven of our Digital Advent Calendar! Today we’re introducing you to our sports students who have a fun festive activity planned to put you through your paces. Advent Day 19 - Beyond the Classroom
It's Day 19 of our Digital Advent Calendar and today we weren’t in the classroom but beyond it! 🌟🎅
Christmas is a special time of year for many people, and for lots of different reasons, whether it’s celebrating traditions, spending time with family and friends, exchanging gifts, or enjoying delicious festive food.
We asked staff and students to share their favourite things about Christmas, and here’s what they said!
Advent Day 15 - The Year in Review Podcast
Today, we’re excited to share a behind the scenes look at the creation of our journalism students' Year in Review podcast. Advent Day 18 - Christmas Kickabout
It’s Day 18 of our Digital Advent Calendar, and the KW2 Academy are truly bringing it home for Christmas! ⚽☃️ Yesterday, our KW2 Academy players braved the cold temperatures to face off against Dearn Valley College in their final game before the holiday break. With determination and teamwork, they secured an impressive 5–1 victory, showcasing skill, resilience, and festive spirit on the pitch, well done athletes!
Advent Day 16 - Sheffcol Community Kitchen
We know that Christmas can be a difficult time of year for some, that's why we've been collecting food items at the Sheffcol Community Kitchen to creative festive hampers that support students in need. A massive thank you to everyone who has donated! Every tin and treat helped us to put together an amazing 45 packs of donations, keeping people warm over winter.
We are asking for donations in 2026 to create food packs for those in need, so that our students can celebrate Pancske Day (Shrove Tuesday) in February. If you are able to please donate:
- Plain flour
- UHT milk
- Lemon juice
- Chocolate spread
- Sunflower or vegetable oil
- Caster sugar
- Honey or syrup
- Pancake mix
Advent Day 8 - Elephants Toothpaste
It’s day eight of our Digital Advent Calendar and today we’re in the science lab 🧪 Christmas + science = Christmas science experiments, obviously! Our Science Curriculum Manager, Sam carries out a practical called Elephants Toothpaste which shows how catalysts can massively speed up reactions. That's why catalysts are used in industrial reactions all over the world!
Advent Day 14 - Winter Animal Care Tips
It's day 14 of our digital advent calendar and today it's the turn of our T Level Animal Care students to talk you through how all of our animals are cared for over winter. Our furry and scaley friends are well looked after every day of the year, and winter is no exception. From being kept nice and cosy to enrichment activities, our animals, get the 5* treatment all year round.
Advent Day 20 - Christmas Cup
It's Day 20 of our Digital Advent Calendar and we're showing off our winter coffee cups! This brilliant creation has been designed by one of our graphic design students Kelsey Taylor, how festive!! ☕ 🤎
The winter cup designs will be available at our City Campus refectory and Costa throughout January 2026 .
Advent Day 6 - Christmas Cocktail/Mocktail
Ingredients:
- Double espresso
- 25ml Cointreau or non-alcoholic orange liqueur
- 12.5ml Tia Maria or non-alcoholic coffee liqueur
- 12.5ml vodka or non-alcoholic vodka
- 25ml sugar syrup
- grated orange zest
- grated dark chocolate

Advent Day 7 - Christmas Dinner at The Silver Plate
We went to see some of our Catering students dishing up the fabulous Christmas dishes they're serving this year in The Silver Plate. Including smoked haddock terrine, crown of turkey, chocolate tart, and many more delicious options, it's no wonder our catering and hospitality students are rushed off their feet this year! What will you be choosing this Christmas?
Advent Day 13 - Christmas Crafts
On the 13th day of our digital advent calendar, our land-based students bring to you their festive Christmas stall! Their pop-up shop included an array of festive items to brighten up the homes of Sheffield, such as wooden reindeer, wreaths, and Christmas ornaments too. The stall was a huge success and was incredibly busy and popular throughout the morning, meaning our land-based students were rushed off their feet selling their wonderful makes.
Advent Day 3 - Festive Screen Printing
It’s Day 3 of our Digital Advent Calendar and today we’re getting creative! 🎨 ✨ Introducing our art and design students who have created some linocut prints with a darker festive twist. Our talented learners designed, carved and pressed their very own pieces, making some impressive prints of Santa’s devilish companion, Krampus. Advent Day 21 - Christmas Gig
🎄 Day 21 of our Digital Advent Calendar!
We’re celebrating the amazing Christmas gig performed by our talented music students at Zephyrs! 🎶
Over 80 students took part in a two-day takeover, showcasing a fantastic mix of genres and creating an incredible atmosphere.
Huge well done to everyone who hit the stage, and thank you to family and friends for your amazing support!
Advent Day 4 - Panto Prep
Our Production Arts students have been hard at work the past few weeks, designing and building the set and technical elements for our upcoming pantomime, Robin Hood! They handle all of the production details of the show, from designing the set, building and decorating backdrops, making props and pre-setting the lighting rig. They will also manage all of the lighting and sound cues, as well as stage managing the actual performances later this month. A fantastic amount of work that goes on behind the scenes to help bring a production to life, we can't wait to see the final show! Keen to see the show yourself? Advent Day 17 - Santa Walk
Today we’re joining our protective services students on their annual Christmas walk! ❄️⛰️🥾 Santa and his elves (students!) walked from Endcliffe Park to Forge Dam, followed by an uphill trek through Ringinglow to The Norfolk Arms and then all the way back down through Whirlow. A pretty good trek we reckon!
Advent Day 9 - 3D Baubles
Its the ninth day of our Advent Calendar and today we're at the Advanced Technology Centre with our engineering students. This year we challenged them to print us a christmas tree ornament using the 3D printers and they definitely didn't disappoint. Give the video a watch to check out the final printed product.
Day 2 - Wreath Making
It's day 2 of our Digital Advent Calendar and it’s beginning to look A LOT like Christmas at The Sheffield College! 🌲 Our talented adult horticulture students have been preparing for the festive season by getting creative, taking part in a Christmas wreath workshop at Sheffield Botanical Gardens. Advent Day 5 - Winter Car Checks
For Day 5 of our Digital Advent Calendar we're in the automotive workshops at our Advanced Technology Centre for a vehicle inspection check! T Level student, Jasmine, is on hand to take us through all of the safety checks and give you some pointers on how to look after your car during the winter months. From coolant levels to tyre tread depths, we've got you covered.
Advent Day 22 - Blom Christmas Craft Fair
On the last day of term our Bloom: Preparation for Adulthood students hosted a hand-made craft fair at Peaks Campus. They had been working for weeks to hand-make every single item on sale, and did an amazing job of selling their creations. They also hosted a Christmas quiz, served teas and coffees, and performed a brilliant Christmas show. What a fantastic way to end the term and spread some festive cheer in our local community at Peaks Campus!
Advent Day 10 - Valley Wildlife
On Day 10 of our digital advent calendar we're with our Animal Care students at Valley Wildlife. Come rain or shine, the students tend to all the needs of the animals whilst they're working there, including feeding them, cleaning their enclosures and of course, giving them lots of attention. In true Christmas style, today the students have been looking after the reindeer, so they're ready and raring for the big day!
Advent Day 23 - Christmas Body Art
It's Day 23 of our Digital Advent Calendar and today we're with Hair and Beauty!
Over December, our Media Make-up students have been practicing their body art skills by creating some incredible winter landscapes.

Advent Day 24 - Christmas at The Sheffield Nursery
It's day 24 on our Digital Advent Calendar and it looks like Santa has come early for our nursery students.
Not only did our blue and red room students recieve a visit from the big man but our yellow room students also got to head out to Weston Park Museum to take part in their sensory Santa experience.
