Os direitos humanos são direitos básicos e liberdades dos seres humanos que são inalienáveis. Os direitos humanos regem o modo como os seres humanos individualmente vivem em sociedade e entre si, bem como sua relação com o estado e as obrigações que o estado tem em relação a eles. Incluem direitos civis e políticos, económicos, sociais e culturais. A base para a sua proteção é a Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos, adotada pela ONU em 1948.
