Snow in summer
Sometimes I am sad
even when the weather is sunny
and my eggs are perfectly runny
and my baby brother just did
something really quite funny
sometimes I am sad without reason
like snow falling in the summer season
like a scratchy cat who has no fleas on
it makes no sense

but I think maybe that’s the clue
that sadness can just visit you
doing something as normal
as lacing a shoe, it’s true
and when sadness visits, I just let it
hang around, I don’t upset it
because everybody knows
without rain, no flowers grow
sadness comes and sadness goes.
