When we engage in behavior change work, we are intentionally aiming to shift people's behaviors. And as designers of these behavior change programs, we carry the responsibility of knowing that the decisions we make will impact people. This brings up a lot of important questions about power dynamics in behavior change work, and who has the right or opportunity to change another person's behavior. We want to ensure that our behavior change programs are set up to do good rather than harm, as there are many positive results for people and nature if we do our work well. So as we go through each of the Behavior-Centered Design steps, we will mention key things to keep in mind related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Explore these principles through the definitions below and video on the following slide.
