  • The first trimester is weeks 1-12 of pregnancy
  • During the first trimester fertilization, implantation, an embryonic period all happens one after another, eventually leading do the fetus beginning to mature.
  • Morning sickness is typical as a result to fluctuating hormone levels in the body of the pregnant person throughout the first trimester. Morning sickness is sometime believed to be a way to prevent a pregnant person from ingesting foods that could be toxic or harmful to the fetus.
  • The fetal heart starts beating around week 5 or 6 of pregnancy.
