Observation- objective information

Signs of a knee injury to look for: Strains and sprain: -Stiffness of the knee -Aching in the knee -Pain that affects the not just the knee Ligament Tear Symptoms: -Pain _swelling -Instability Popping sound at injury Knee Mesiscus Tear Symptoms -Pain Swelling Tendon Injry Symptoms -Pain Tenderness Loss of movement in the knee and loss of strength Knee Bursitis Symptoms -Pain especially when in motoin -swelling -redness and warmath of knee

Palpatations- Objecyive Information

The next steps in assesing the injury of the athlete will be to feel around the knee. Here we will feel for swelling, see if the knee is hot or cold. As well as find out where the issues is exactly. At this stage we will also look to rule out fractures and deems what next steps that need to be taken for athletes saftey.

Testing for Knee: Range of Motion Testing - movement testing to make sure the joint is within normal limits - can be tested by having the athlete move their own joints, doctors move the joint, or apply preassure to have a passive rang of motion test completed.

Special Test- Objective Information

The following link will lead you to a few test for strenght in the knee joint. Testing strength will help determine the stability of the knee.
Other test that can be conducted can be physical test. These test can include anything from having the athlete squat, jump or even run in place to determine the extent of the injury. There are as well test that can be taken to dtermine if a speciifc ligamnet is torn such as the lachman test for an ACL ligmanet injury.
As I was observing the athletes knee there was visbile swelling in the knee. We could also see that the knee is aggrivated just resting on the table. There is also visbile swelling in the knee. Before testing the knee I can see that the issue is deeper than just a sprain.
Steps To Acess Knee Injury: -Asses Temperature -Asses for fluid -Asses for tendon pathology -Asses for cartilage pathology -Asses for laxity

These are the beginging steps to be able to test for a knee injury. These test will help determine what next steps need to be taken. Next steps in ths situation can be limited but not limited to MRI imagiging that will be able to show more infomration about the injury than just test will.

The steps that will be taken here are to run an athlete through a series of steps. Although we have examined and felt the knee in previous steps it is important that actual test are ran to determine the extent of the injury. I tested for the lachman test and noticed that the knee felt extremly unsable and the shin bone was shifting foward. This leads me to recommend an MRI immaging for the athlete.
