Birth Place: Tulsa, OklahomaInspiration For Writing: She began The Outsiders at the age of fifteen, inspired by her frustration with the social divisions in her high school and the lack of realistic fiction for high school readers. Published: The outsiders was published in 1967. End Result: Once published, The Outsiders gave her a lot of publicity and fame, and also a lot of pressure. That resulted in a three-year writer's block. That Was Then, This is Now was published in 1971. Second Novel: That Was Then, This is Now

The Greasers were poorer and wilder than the Socs or the Middle Class. The Greasers had long hair that was slicked back. It was a symbol of their gang. They usually have long sideburns.The greasers also loved to go and watch movies at the drive in. Greasers wear blue jeans and T-shirts, leather jackets, and sneakers or boots. They have long, greased hair and leave their shirt tails untucked.

THESOCS

The Socs aka The Socalists were the rich kids. They would ofter get drunk and would also get into fights with The Greasers. The Greasers and The Socs are mainly different because they are from different social classes.
