Muscle Stretch Reaction

  • A positive test indicates dysfunction between the muscle and its fascia
  • Indications to test include:
    • Muscle is shortened
    • Local or reffered pain
    • Poor funciton in associated organ or gland
  • When a normal muscle is stretched and retested, it tests strong
  • A positive reaction will result in the muscles testing weaker after the stretch
  • Must be strong in the clear
  • Be careful not to stretch to vigorously

Fascial Release

  • Treatment:
    • Deep massage in the direction of flow of the local vessels
      • Avoid damage to one way valves in veins and lymph
    • Re-test after treatment
  • Support
    • Neurolymphatic and neurovascular reflexes
  • Normally, muscle and its surrounding fascia should be the same length and function together
  • Muscle is shortened in its resting position
    • Causes limited range of motion
