summary

This project aims to help homeless individuals in New York City by turning a renovated RV into a mobile resource center. With a $100,000 budget and community donations, it will provide essentials like food, showers, and guidance to help people get back on their feet. Volunteers and partners will work together to spread awareness, reduce waste, and open the road to a better life for everyone.

Operation & Advertisement

'The New Me' In New York

We operate 2x a week, one for the Upper NYC-128th St (Harlem) and one for Bronx (Park ave south bronx) per week (drive to these locations and park there)

People will line up infront of the RV and once they are let in, they will go through different stations.

This is because these are low-income and high-homeless-rate areas that need the most help.

We will advertise locations through social media posts (mainy to get donations), then advertise to the homeless by putting up fliers on trees and around these communities.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES

Objectives:

  • We will provide a place to shower and clean up, giving them a private place to wash up and relax and fix their hygiene
  • We will also make sure to provide fresh, clean food to those coming to the program, so they won’t have to wonder when they’re next meal is coming
  • There is going to be clothing offered to those who want any, things to keep warm, such as blankets and hats
  • Provide consultation for those coming to the program, helping them get set up with programs outside of this one to get them, and keep them on track towards a healthier and more normal life

Goals:

  • Giving people that are homeless the opportunity to create a brand new start for themselves
  • Providing resources and accommodations to people that are homeless, so they can regain a sense of normalcy, even if it's temporary

What our team renovated in order to get the perfect space needed

The renovated RV will be transformed into a comfortable and functional mobile space designed to meet basic needs while staying within the $100,000 budget. The bedroom area will be converted into a small counseling space, offering privacy and comfort for one-on-one guidance sessions. The kitchen will be further updated with basic appliances for preparing simple, donated meals, and storage compartments will hold clothing, blankets, and hygiene supplies. A compact shower and sink area will allow individuals to freshen up, while outdoor seating provided by nearby parks where the RV parks will serve as additional gathering and eating spaces. Solar panels are also added to reduce energy costs. Therefore leading to the interior featuring easy-to-clean flooring and creme with green colors to create a naturing, uplifting environment.

finalfinances

Overall, this project would cost around $85,000, keeping it comfortably under the $100,000 budget. Most of the money would go toward buying and fixing up the RV, while the rest would help pay staff who keep everything running smoothly. Since a lot of food, clothing, and hygiene items will come from donations, we’ll be able to stretch funds even further. The remaining money will cover fuel, insurance, and any unexpected needs, making sure the project can keep going strong and truly help people start their journey toward a better life.
