La "Conferencia de Berlín (1884–1885)" fue una reunión convocada por el canciller alemán Otto von Bismarck, donde las potencias europeas se repartieron África sin considerar las fronteras ni los pueblos que vivían allí. Su objetivo oficial era “regular” la colonización y el comercio, pero en realidad marcó el inicio del "reparto imperialista de África", estableciendo las reglas para la expansión colonial.
