Mission Statement

🚀 Dear Astronauts, Your class was on a mission to explore a new galaxy when a sudden burst of cosmic energy knocked your ship off course! Now you’re drifting among the stars with limited power and no clear path home. To get back to Earth, you’ll need to repair the ship’s systems by solving fraction challenges in each area of the spacecraft. Each correct answer helps restore power, and completing every section will unlock the final launch sequence! Your Mission: -Collect the codes to repair the Navigation Panel, Fuel System, and Communication Link. -When all systems are fixed, you can blast off and return safely to Earth! 💫 Good luck, crew! The universe is counting on your math skills.

IMPORTANT: Each mission has a password. To remember it, you must write it in your mission manual when completing each of the challenges.

Day 2:

🚀 Dear Astronauts, The mission continues! Today we’ll stabilize the Power Core and repair the Communication Link to complete our journey back to Earth. We will identify fractions of a set and a whole. We will divide objects between two or more people to represent fractions. I will identify fractions and write 1-3 sentences explaining how to solve a fraction of a set problem.

IMPORTANT: Each mission has a password. To remember it, you must write it in your mission manual when completing each of the challenges.

The ship’s power core is flickering! To keep the lights on, you’ll need to find and match fractions to their pictoral models . Each correct answer helps balance the energy and keeps your ship from shutting down!

START

1.) Some of the power cells started glowing orange. What fraction of the power cells are orange?

(e) 5/9(g) 4/9 (s) 6/9 (k) 9/4

2.) Sue and 3 other engineers work on the plasma tubes as shown in the diagram.

(c) 2/8(y) 4/8 (w) 1/4 (b) 7/8

What fraction of the plasma tubes are left to be fixed?

3.) Match the fraction to the correct fraction model and you code will be revealed.

Code: o

1.)Four astronauts are fixing the power core.

(h) 4/8(e) 2/8 (o) 1/4 (w) 7/8

They shared the 8 parts of the powercore equally. Each astronaut fixed _________of the total number of powercore parts.

Balance the energy! Enter the code from your mission to stabilize the core.

1.) The main fuel pipe is divided into 4 equal parts. 3 parts were used. What fraction of the fuel pipe is left?? (g) 2/3 (u) 4/3 (n) 3/4 (d) 1/4

What can you use a lantern for?

2.) There are 6 signal lights on the control board. 2 lights are blinking red, showing weak connection. What fraction of the lights are showing weak connection? (q) 1/6 (w) 2/6 (e) 4/6 (r) 6/2

3.) The communication screen is split into 8 equal sections. 3 sections are working properly. What fraction of the screens are still blacked out? (t) 8/5 (y) 4/8 (u) 3/8 (i) 5/8

4.) There are 3 antennas on the ship. 1 antenna is sending a green all clear signal to Earth. What fraction of the antennas are red broken? (a) 2/3 (s) 4/3 (d) 3/4 (f) 1/4

5.) Joe and his partner recorded a total of 8 messages home. Only 3 of their messages went through. What fraction shows the number of messages that went through? (f) 3/8 (g) 6/8 (h) 8/8 (i) 1/8

Your repairs are nearly complete! The final step is sending the distress signal to Mission Control. Enter the final code to reactivate the communication link and call for rescue.

If your code is wrong, use the back button to re-check your work
