CO2 levels Climate change

Eythan, Shivani, Aaryan, Pavlo, Ryan

Increasing crust solidification, outgassing, LHB, leads to nitrogen, co2, methane, and inert gases in atmosphere. Oxygen is not present in atmosphere as it is used in oxidation or ferrous iron, sulfur, and atmospheric methane.

With increasing oxygen levels, the atmosphere shifts from reducing to oxidising. O2 varies greatly during the Proterozoic eon (after Archean) .

Primarily hydrogen and gases f rom the solar nebula. Water vapour, methane, ammonia, hydride rich. Heavy atmospheric pressure of 27+ atm results from high co2 presence

Why are CO2 levels rising?

  • Fossil fuels
  • Deforestation
  • Natural carbon cycle

Atmospheric CO2 levels:

  • Infrared gas analysers
  • Non-dispersive infrared sensors
  • Chemical absorption
  • Ice core
