IBI AGRÍCOLA
En Ibi predominaban actividades del sector primario debido a las condiciones geográficas del pueblo (su altitud) y a las condiciones climáticas (bajas temperaturas).
Se llevaban a cabo actividades primarias por la facilidad que existía en extraer y obtener materias primas directamente de la naturaleza como el hielo.
CONCLUSIÓN: Ibi era conocido como el pueblo heladero en esta época.
SIN EMBARGO, hubo un cambio en la actividad de Ibi...

Los hermanos Payá fundaron la primera empresa juguetera en 1905, marcando el inicio de una nueva etapa.
IBI EN LA INDUSTRIA
Ibi se desarrolló significativamente en el siglo XX como núcleo industrial, siendo conocido como “la cuna del juguete”, debido a que es el centro neurálgico del juguete, internacionalmente hablando (José Albert Nov 16, 2020).
En las décadas de los 50-70 el sector vivió una época dorada en Ibi, con abundancia de fábricas de juguetes de hojalata, madera y plástico, así como una creciente demanda internacional.
Actualmente, aunque la industria del juguete ya no tiene el peso exclusivo que tenía, Ibi es conocida como “La Gran Fábrica”, donde existe el lema de "Innovar hoy para liderar el mañana", que hace referencia a su importante sector industrial.
CONCLUSIÓN: Ahora Ibi es conocido como "El pueblo del Juguete" .

Estas dos paradas reflejan las raíces de Ibi en el sector primario durante finales del siglo XIX, cuando la base económica era la agricultura (almendros, olivos, cultivo de secano) junto con la producción de hielo y helado.
Ibi fue un importante centro para la extracción y almacenamiento de nieve, abasteciendo a ciudades como Xixona y Alicante. Hubo hasta 9 pozos de nieve en la zona, 4 de ellos dentro del pueblo (siglos XVIII y XIX). Se ha conservado el monumento, que refleja el origen de Ibi como pueblo heladero, rindiendo tributo a la que fue la primera industria del municio.
Su nombre hace alusión a la paja que tantos usos tuvo en tiempos pasados (sobre todo alimento y cama para los animales).
Destaca su fuente monumental, como recuerdo de la traída de aguas potables a la localidad a finales del siglo XIX desde el cercano Barranco de los Molinos.

Ambas paradas muestran el cambio en la actividad de Ibi, pasando de ser primaria a secundaria. Los hermanos Payá fundaron la primera empresa juguetera en 1905, marcando el inicio de una nueva etapa, que sigue hoy en día.

Este edificio albergó durante más de 70 años la fábrica de juguetes que llevó a los niños de multitud de hogares, durante varias generaciones, la ilusión del juguete y la magia de la noche del 5 de enero.
