Loss of Bamboo Forests in China

Giant Pandas in Danger

Where do they live?

Giant pandas, which are native to China, live in mountain forests that contain a large amount of bamboo and provide cool, humid weather which they need to survive.

What is the problem?

Impact on pandas

Many bamboo forests that pandas depend on are being destroyed because humans cut down trees to build farms, roads, and cities. Climate change, which affects bamboo growth, also reduces their habitat.

Pandas, whose diet is 99% bamboo, struggle to survive since there is less food and space. So, some pandas move closer to humans, which puts them in danger.

Why are pandas important?

Pandas help protect bamboo forests, which keep the soil healthy and water clean, so other animals and people also benefit. There are only 1,860 pandas in the wild, which is why they are vulnerable.

Solutions

We should protect panda habitats because this keeps bamboo forests safe.Since conservation programs help pandas grow in number, we must support them so pandas can survive in the future.
