Purposes of literature revews

Let us compare the objectives of three types of evidence reviews: the one nested in a research study, the proposal, and the concept paper. The aim of the literature review in a concept paper is to connect concepts to frame the proposed research. A review of research in the research proposal focuses on proving the viability of the proposed study and finding evidence gaps, while in the research study itself, the emphasis is on conducting in-depth and critical analysis and synthesis of previous research.

A literature review is a common college assignment where students summarize literature or annotate journal articles to understand a subject better. When it is a part of a research proposal, students synthesize research to reveal gaps in research or frame future studies. There are different types of literature reviews, each with specific purposes. The requirements for literature types, search techniques, and analysis methods can also vary significantly based on the review types.

Best match search algorithm," the most prominent and widely used algorithm is Okapi BM25, or simply BM25. It is a ranking function used by search engines to estimate the relevance of documents to a given search query. Modern, sophisticated systems increasingly use machine learning and deep learning to augment or replace traditional ranking. These models can learn more nuanced and context-aware patterns by analyzing user behavior, like which results get clicked.

Academic Databases

An academic database is a structured, curated digital repository containing organized scholarly information or scholarly records designed for efficient searching, retrieval, and analysis by researchers and students. Every library offers a searchable collection of databases. In the slide, you see the Smart Search database selection tool and an example of the interface for Georgia libraries' directory of databases (GALILEO).

Now, when your findings are analyzed and classified, you are ready to consider approaches to integrating and synthesizing them into a coherent, purposeful, and logical description, a synthesis of knowledge into a coherent whole that informs future research and actions is still the most challenging task. Since 2022, when the first ChatGPT app appeared, students have been bombarded by salesmen of new miracle AI tools. They claim that the new tools will not only enable writing literature reviews but also facilitate finding, analyzing, and summarizing numerous academic articles.
