Punctuating direct speech
Think back to our Sentence Accuracy work.
The spoken words are between inverted commas.
The witch croaked, “I have brought you a gift.”
The comma is placed after the reporting clause.

Think back to our Sentence Accuracy work.
When you have a story with two or more characters speaking to each other, this is called dialogue.
The witch croaked, “I have brought you a gift.” “Oh, how very kind,” the girl replied.
When there is a new speaker, start a new line.
