We must refrain from prompting discussion of the anchor company’s private equity owner, or its merits as an investment asset, as the discussions should be focused on the anchor company itself and its performance.

Encourage a balanced conversation of the anchor company, its performance, and relevant outlooks or trends affecting it. We are seeking to prompt a measured, qualified conversation eliciting a comprehensive view of the anchor rather than sensationalist coverage of its positive or negative aspects.

Why:

It is important that discussion guides remain neutral, particularly where the Anchor company is owned by an AlphaSights client or is a client’s portfolio company. This is because the way questions are framed directly affects what the expert can safely share and can unintentionally introduce bias into their responses.
