Non-communicable diseases -
Non-communicbale diseases are the leading global killer, as they account for nearly 3/4 of deaths worldwide annually with many of those deaths occuring in low-middle economic status countries. Non-communicable diseases are diseases that cannot be passed around but can be developed due to lifestyle habits such as a poor diet, lack of physical activity excessive alcohol consumption and an unhealthy diet. However some indivudals may be more likely to have or develop a non-communicable disease due to genetics. Non-communicable diseases covers the bracket for cardiovascualr diseases, cancers, chronic respiratory illnesses, diabetes and mental health disorders. The leading most common non-communicable disease is cardiovascualr disease which is a term which refers to the conditon affecting the heart or blood vessels. Cardiovascular disease also known as CVD is one of the biggest killers worldwide and an estimated 17.9 million lives are taken each year due to the significant impact of these horrific diseases on the human body, however those who have CVD also have one other health codition. There are many ways in which people can take prevntary steps to avoid themsleves or others developing these diseases. One of many ways is the NHS health check which is free where specialists check for any potential risk of CVD or if indiviiduals could potentially get it in the future uptake the offer for screening when offered and another way indivuals can reduce their own risk of develping non-communicable diseases is by reducing intake of alcohol, part take in more physical activty and to stop smoking. If nothing is done about non-communicable diseases the problmen is only going to increase whihc wil cause significant stress and strain on public health services and it will have a huge impact on the economic stauts. Currently the total annual healthcare costs of cardiovascualr disease is around £12 billion and without urgent chnage it could increase hugely and costs the world roughly £26 trillion.
