What does the word HALLOWEEN means ?

The word "Halloween" comes from the phrase "All Hallows' Eve." "Hallow" means "saint" or "holy," and "eve" refers to the night before. So, Halloween originally referred to the evening before All Hallows' Day (now known as All Saints' Day) on November 1st, a Christian holiday to honor saints and martyrs. Over time, the name "All Hallows' Eve" was shortened to "Halloween."

Origin and tradition :
It began with the Celtic festival Samhain in Ireland and Scotland. Celebrated over 2,000 years ago to mark the end of the harvest and the start of winter, when it was believed spirits could cross into the living world.

-How is it celebrated in different countries?

Halloween is celebrated differently around the world. In the USA, people wear costumes, go trick-or-treating, and carve pumpkins. In Mexico, it mixes with Día de los Muertos, honoring the dead with altars and decorations. In Ireland, its birthplace, people light bonfires and tell ghost stories. In Spain, it combines costume parties with All Saints’ Day, when families visit cemeteries. Each country adds its own traditions to the holiday.
