Free content comes with its annoyances, so we've taken a moment to collect some of our observations to help save you some time and questions.Here are some brief notes on platform quirks and models: - Alison.com - This site states courses are CPD (Continued Professional Development) Accredited. Organizations and employers usually require the certificate as proof in order to receive CPD credits. Otherwise, located in the Account Settings, Learner Verification and Learner Record are available for free of charge as proof of the courses you've completed to put on LinkedIn.
- CodeAcademy - Much of this platform's features are locked behind a monthly subscription. The subs regularly go on sale, but are reasonable either way. If you're interested in learning to code, this is one of the most user-friendly ways to learn. The free model is enough to start learning some basics to check if this is the right path for you.
- Coursera - Free courses DO exist on Coursera but most of the content is otherwise not free. There is a 7-day trial where it seems like we could enroll and complete entire courses, but may be generally unrealistic to set that expectation. Courses may be free to autit/preview, but our experience was that even preview was limited.
- LinkedIn - Free courses DO exist on LinkedIn but that could change at any time. The quality of free content, in our experience, has been top notch, so far.

Every Platform Has a Different Model
Free content comes with its annoyances, so we've taken a moment to collect some of our observations to help save you some time and questions.Here are some brief notes on platform quirks and models:- Alison.com - This site states courses are CPD (Continued Professional Development) Accredited. Organizations and employers usually require the certificate as proof in order to receive CPD credits. Otherwise, located in the Account Settings, Learner Verification and Learner Record are available for free of charge as proof of the courses you've completed to put on LinkedIn.
- CodeAcademy - Much of this platform's features are locked behind a monthly subscription. The subs regularly go on sale, but are reasonable either way. If you're interested in learning to code, this is one of the most user-friendly ways to learn. The free model is enough to start learning some basics to check if this is the right path for you.
- Coursera - Free courses DO exist on Coursera but most of the content is otherwise not free. There is a 7-day trial where it seems like we could enroll and complete entire courses, but may be generally unrealistic to set that expectation. Courses may be free to autit/preview, but our experience was that even preview was limited.
- LinkedIn - Free courses DO exist on LinkedIn but that could change at any time. The quality of free content, in our experience, has been top notch, so far.
