Lesson 4: Growth

Embracing Mistakes & Leveling Up

Introduction to Growth

Discover how mistakes help us grow stronger, braver, and more confident.

Course Objectives

This lesson teaches athletes that mistakes are not failures, they’re part of the process. Through reflection, storytelling, and sister support, athletes will learn to see challenges as opportunities to grow stronger. They’ll practice encouraging themselves and each other, while building confidence in their ability to bounce back from setback. Whether they’re working on a cheer skill, managing emotions, or facing something new, this lesson helps athletes understand that real growth is messy, brave, and always worth it.
Learn how to bounce back when things feel hard or frustrating.
Understand that making mistakes is part of getting better
Teach pairs how to encourage each other when things don’t go perfectly.
Create a plan or motto that reminds us to keep going

What is growth?

Growth doesn’t always feel good but it always leads somewhere better. This lesson encourages athletes to stop fearing mistakes and instead use them as stepping stones. We reflect, own our oops moments, and build confidence from our comeback.

Growth takes time, but every try counts.

Key Concepts of the Course

Encouragement helps us grow even faster. When we support our Sister and cheer each other on, we both bloom. Growth is something we do together, not in silence or shame.

Bounce-Back Power
Grow Together, Not Alone
Mistakes Help Us Grow

Mistakes are not bad, they’re how we learn!Every time we mess up and try again, our brain gets stronger. In cheer, school, or life, falling is part of leveling up.

Growth means we don’t stay down, we bounce back. When things feel hard, we take a breath, reset, and keep going. That’s what makes us powerful.

Small Steps Matter
Supportive Feedback
Learning Curve

Everyone learns at their own pace. Growth isn’t a straight line, it’s full of ups and downs. Mistakes don’t mean you’re not learning. They are learning.

Growth isn’t about huge changes, it’s about one little step at a time. Every time you try again, speak kindly, or do something brave… that’s growth.

We grow stronger when we cheer each other on. Being a great Sister means noticing someone’s effort and reminding them how far they’ve come.

What Growth Really Looks Like

Growth is not about doing everything right. It’s about learning through mistakes, trying again, and cheering yourself on. You are growing every time you…
  • "Learn something new"
  • "Try after failing"
  • "Help someone else"
  • "Show kindness during a challenge"

Do you have questions?

Thanks for being part of today’s growth journey! If anything was confusing, or if you’re curious about something we said, just ask, that’s what Chain Leaders are here for! ✨ We love your questions, your stories, and your effort. Every time you ask or share, you grow. 🌱 We’re proud of the work you did today. Let’s keep growing together!
Pause & Reset Before we react, we pause. Taking a deep breath is a small but powerful act that helps your brain and body reset. Growth means slowing down to choose our next step wisely.
Keep Going This is where real growth kicks in. After the pause, you show courage by trying again, even if you don’t feel 100% confident. It’s okay to be unsure… what matters is that you try.
Recognize the Moment Growth starts with honesty. Mistakes happen and that’s okay! This step is all about recognizing when something didn’t go the way you planned. It’s not about shame; it’s about seeing it as a chance to learn.
Name the Feeling Frustration is part of the journey! When we name our feelings, we take back our power. This step helps us notice what’s happening inside so we can stay in control and not give up.
Celebrate the Progress Look how far you’ve come! Growth isn’t always loud, sometimes it’s one small win at a time. This step is a reminder to clap for yourself and celebrate every little improvement 💪🏽.
