The drinking water crisis
made by : Lucas Ribeiro
Indroduction
Did you know that about 70% of our planet is covered with water, but less than 1% is actually drinkable? This makes it very difficult for humans to obtain drinkable water. And in consequence of that 2 Billion people lack drinkable water.
Principal Causes
Pollution
Climate change
Rivers and aquifers are contaminated by waste, sewage, and chemicals.
Which causes longer droughts and reduces freshwater reserves.
Waste
Deforestation
Households, industry and agriculture are a big part of water waste
Which destroys watersheds and prevents water from infiltrating the soil.
Solutions and Hope
Conflicts
Humanitarian crises
Between countries and communities over water sources.
Leading to diseases and hunger
Economic impacts
Migration
Because without water, there’s no agriculture, no industry — and no life
as people are forced to leave areas where water has run ou
Solutions and Hope
Reuse of treated wastewater for agriculture.
Desalination of seawater
When you separate the salt from the sea water, its already used in countries like Israel and Saudi Arabia
For example, in homes, factories, or cities, but it has to be cleaned and treated to remove harmful substances
Reducing waste
Water-efficient technologies
Education and awareness of the value of every drop
These are technologies designed to use less water while still meeting our needs
Quizz
Conclusion
The water crisis is, in many ways, a reflection of how we treat our planet.Water is life — and without it, nothing else matters
