David Kushner

David Alan Kushner (born September 6, 2000) is an American singer-songwriter. Raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, he moved to Los Angeles, California, and began releasing music. Kushner is Christian, and the content of his music is influenced by his faith. David Kushner has publicly discussed his mental health struggles, including anxiety and overwhelm.

What Is It About?

It´s about the internal struggle between desire and guilt, sin and the search for redemption. The lyrics draw on his Christian roots and explore themes of hiding mistakes, temptation, and the battle to follow the faith despite difficulties. The "daylight" can be interpreted as truth, the confrontation of sins, or divine light, which the narrator tries to follow but ultimately resists. The singer reflects his emotional burden from past decisions, generating a sense of remorse that many listeners can relate to their own life experiences.

Telling myself I won't go there Oh, but I know that I won't care Tryna wash away all the blood I've spilt This lust is a burden that we both share Two sinners can't atone from a lone prayer Souls tied, intertwined by our pride and guilt There's darkness in the distance From the way that I've been livin' But I know I can't resist it Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time

Tellin' myself it's the last time Can you spare any mercy that you might find If I'm down on my knees again? Deep down, way down, Lord, I try Try to follow your light, but it's night time Please, don't leave me in the end There's darkness in the distance I'm beggin' for forgiveness (ooh) But I know I might resist it, ohOh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time You and I drink the poison from the same vine Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time Hidin' all of our sins from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight From the daylight, runnin' from the daylight Oh, I love it and I hate it at the same time

A Gay Christian or a cheater?

Some people says that it´s about being gay and a christian or an infidelity "This lust is a burden we both share. Two sinners cannot atone in a single prayer. Souls bound, entwined by our pride and guilt." Lust we both share... Two sinners? Souls bound! That sounds like two people having sex they shouldn't. "You and I drink the poison from the same vine." The whole love-hate thing is that it goes against his morals, as a good Christian, and he feels incredibly guilty, but at the same time, he loves the interaction with this other person too much to simply give it up.

THANKS!
