José Guadalupe Posada

He was a Mexican illustrator and engraver known for his satirical prints and skeleton figures called calaveras. Born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, he worked as a caricaturist and printmaker, creating images that commented on politics and society. His most famous work is La Calavera Catrina, symbolizing that death comes for everyone, rich or poor. Though he died in poverty, Posada is now seen as a pioneer of Mexican popular art and a major influence on artists like Diego Rivera.

Humberto Peraza y Ojeda

He was a Mexican sculptor born in Mérida, Yucatán. From a young age, he showed talent for drawing and modeling, which led him to study at the National School of Fine Arts (UNAM). He later became a teacher and created thousands of works, especially bronze sculptures inspired by bullfighting, history, and Mexican culture. Among his best-known pieces are monuments to Lázaro Cárdenas and Venustiano Carranza. He spent his final years in Cuernavaca, Morelos, where he continued working until his death in 2016.

Juan Gabriel

Alberto Aguilera Valadez was born in Parácuaro, Michoacán, Mexico, grew up in poverty but followed his passion for music from a young age. He became one of Latin America’s most beloved artists, known for songs like Querida and Amor Eterno. Mixing pop, ranchera, and mariachi, he wrote over 1,800 songs. His charisma and emotional performances made him a true legend of Mexican music.

Octavio Paz

He was a Mexican poet, essayist, and diplomat born in Mexico City. He grew up in a literary family, studied law and literature, and worked as a diplomat in India and Japan, experiences that influenced his writing. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1990 and is celebrated as one of Mexico’s greatest literary figures.

Amalia Hernández

She was born in Mexico City in 1917. She studied dance from a young age and later became a famous choreographer. In 1952, she founded the Ballet Folklórico de México, dedicating her life to promoting Mexican culture through dance until her death in 2000.
