A Romanticism Escape room

The House of Forgotten Romantics

You are a scholar of literature, drawn by rumor and curiosity to a crumbling estate hidden out in the middle of nowhere. Locals call it The House of Forgotten Romantics, abandoned for nearly two centuries. They say it once belonged to a secret circle of Romantic writers—artists who believed in the power of nature, emotion, mystery, and imagination. Before they disappeared, these writers scattered their most treasured manuscripts throughout the house, concealing them behind riddles, relics, and clues only those with a true Romantic mind could uncover.

The House of Forgotten Romantics

As you step inside, the heavy door groans shut behind you. The air is thick with the scent of old paper, wild roses, and lingering smoke from long-extinguished fires. Dust dances in the slivers of light that slip through cracked shutters. Time feels slower here, like the house is holding its breath. Your mission is to recover the final manuscript, The Spirit of the Woods, before the house seals itself again. But it won’t be easy. You must prove your understanding of Romanticism to move forward.

The House of Forgotten Romantics

Only those who truly understand the emotional power, natural beauty, and poetic soul of the Romantic Era can uncover the secrets of the house and escape in time.

You step carefully into the attic, the floorboards creaking beneath your feet. Dust hangs thick in the air, swirling around stacks of old photographs, handwritten notes, and scattered playing cards. A feather quill lies abandoned beside a broken pair of spectacles. Faintly scratched into the desk are the words: "Only those who understand the heart may move forward."

As you brush aside some of the loose papers, a folded envelope catches your eye. On the back, in fading ink, is a message: "Truth, feeling, and imagination must all be known before you continue." The surrounding items seem to whisper forgotten stories, but they remain just out of reach. You're getting closer, but the attic isn’t ready to give up its secrets just yet.

Beneath a yellowed letter and a playing card, you find one last clue: "What is hidden cannot be seen until all three are understood." Something is definitely here, but only once you prove you understand the spirit of Romanticism will it reveal itself.
