"Trial"

the fifth of november

Remember, remember! The fifth of November, The Gunpowder treason and plot; I know of no reason Why the Gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot! Guy Fawkes and his companions Did the scheme contrive, To blow the King and Parliament All up alive. Threescore barrels, laid below, To prove old England's overthrow. But, by God's providence, him they catch, With a dark lantern, lighting a match! A stick and a stake For King James's sake!

the fifth of november

If you won't give me one, I'll take two, The better for me, And the worse for you. A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope, A penn'orth of cheese to choke him, A pint of beer to wash it down, And a jolly good fire to burn him. Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring! Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King! Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

thanks!

Church of England

In 1534, this event was part of a much larger movement in Europe called the Protestant Reformation. Protestantism is a large branch of Christianity that formed in the 16th century as a protest movement against the Catholic Church. King Henry VIII of England founded the Church of England because the Catholic pope did not grant an annulment of Henry's first marriage. The main difference between the Catholic Church and the Church of England is that Anglicans do not recognize the pope as the head of the Christian faith. Instead, the head of the Church of England is the British monarch. The highest-ranking clergyman in the Church of England is the archbishop of Canterbury.

UK Government

The UK has a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy with a sovereign parliament. The Head of State is the King, while the Head of Government is the Prime Minister, who is the leader of the party with the most seats in Parliament. Parliament, composed of the House of Commons and the House of Lords, is the supreme legislative body
