Mission Statement

🚀 Dear Astronauts, Your class was on a mission to explore a new galaxy when a sudden burst of cosmic energy knocked your ship off course! Now you’re drifting among the stars with limited power and no clear path home. To get back to Earth, you’ll need to repair the ship’s systems by solving fraction challenges in each area of the spacecraft. Each correct answer helps restore power, and completing every section will unlock the final launch sequence! Your Mission: -Collect the codes to repair the Navigation Panel, Fuel System, and Communication Link. -When all systems are fixed, you can blast off and return safely to Earth! 💫 Good luck, crew! The universe is counting on your math skills.

IMPORTANT: Each mission has a password. To remember it, you must write it in your mission manual when completing each of the challenges.

Day 1:

🚀 Dear Astronauts, Our mission begins! Today we’ll use our fraction knowledge to fix the Navigation Panel and refuel the Fuel System, so our ship can start the journey home. We will identify numerators and denominators in a fraction and solve word problems using pictoral models. I will write 1-3 sentences explaining how to solve fraction of a whole problem.

IMPORTANT: Each mission has a password. To remember it, you must write it in your mission manual when completing each of the challenges.

Your ship’s controls are offline! Use what you already know about fractions to recalibrate the navigation system. Every correct answer helps steer your course back toward Earth.

START

Choose the correct answer in each case.

1.) Which fraction has a numerator of 2? (j) 1/2 (b) 2/6 (k) 4/12

Reminder:Each answer choice has a letter (J) next to it.Write it on your Mission paper.

2.)Which fraction is represernted by the shaded area in the image? (s)1/4 (a) 2/4 (f) 3/4

3.)Which fraction is represernted by the shaded area in the image? (k) 8/6 (b) 2/8 (y) 6/8

Great work, crew! The navigation data is ready to upload.Enter the correct code to realign the ship’s course toward Earth.

1.) The spaceship’s fuel tank has 8 equal sections. 3 sections are full of fuel. What fraction of the tank is full? (n) 3/8 (k) 5/8 (d) 8/3 (c) 3/5

What can you use a lantern for?

2.) Which figure respresents 2/6 of the fuel cells NOT shaded?

(t)

(q)

(h)

(i)

What can you use a lantern for?

3.) The rocket has 3 energy rods. 1 rod was used for takeoff. What fraction of the rods are left to make it home?? (x) 1/3 (p) 3/3 (r) 2/3 (a) 3/1

What can you use a lantern for?

There are 6 fuel cells on the ship. 4 are glowing orange and ready to use. What fraction of the fuel cells are ready for liftoff?? (r) 4/6 (m) 6/2 (v) 2/3 (p) 2/6

What can you use a lantern for?

5.) Match the fraction to the correct fraction model and you code will be revealed.
