Change final y to ier. Other adjectives ending in ing, ed, ious or ful form the comparative with more. Adjectives ending in an unstressed syllable form the comparative with er or r..

Add er. Add r if the adjective ends in e. Double the final consonant and add er if the adjective ends in a single vowel and a consonant.

Adjectives of three or more syllables add more
