Dual, triple y quad Channel

Módulos de memoria

  • Memorias PROM
    • Memorias de sólo lectura programables una vez por el usuario.
    • Utilizan tecnología CMOS y son baratas.
    • Frágiles y, al ser programables pueden provocar que los fusibles se quemen involuntariamente.
  • Memorias EPROM
    • Memorias de sólo lectura que se pueden borrar y escribir electrónicamente.
    • Requieren dispositivos específicos para ello.
  • Memorias EEPROM
    • Memorias de sólo lectura que se pueden borrar y escribir electrónicamente.
    • Se pueden realizar ambas operaciones eléctricamente.
  • Memoria ROM
    • Memorias de sólo lectura que se escriben una sola vez.
    • En ausencia de electricidad NO pierden los datos.
    • Son las más antiguas, baratas y se programan en fábrica.
    • Se basan en tecnología CMOS.
    • Se usan para el firmware del dispositivo.

Módulos de memoria

  • Circuito impreso rectángular al que se sueldan los chips de memoria.
  • Se conectan a la placa base mediante ranuras llamadas bancos de memoria o ranura de memoria.
  • Tipos:
    • SIMM
    • DIMM (actual)
    • RIMM

- Sólo lectura.- Lectura y escritura. - Módulos de memoria. - Dual Channel, Triple Channel, Quad Channel.

Lectura y escritura

- Son volátiles: Pierden información una vez desaparece el suministro eléctrico.- Pueden ser leídas y escritas indefinidamente.- Son de acceso aleatorio.. Pueden ser:

  • Memoria SRAM
    • Construidas a base de biestales.
    • Clasificación:
      • Sync SRAM: Operaciones controladas por el reloj del sistema.
      • Async SRAM: Independientes de la frecuencia del reloj.
  • Memoria DRAM
    • RAM dinámicas con la necesidad de ser refrescadas.
    • Tienen ventajas sobre las SRAM en coste y tamaño.

Dual, triple y quad Channel

  • Utulización de 2, 3 o 4 módulos de memoria del mismo fabricante y con las mismas características.
  • Aumentan el ancho de banda: Se hacen accesos simultáneos a los módulos.
