Blood
Naturaliazation
Mariage
Through Italian ancerstry and the corrrect documentations, showing proof of this ancestry
Through mariage of an Italian Citizen the application can be sent in after 2 years if living in Italy and after 3 years if not living in Italy
After living in Italy for 10+ years, depending on the circumstances an aplication can be sent in for citizenship
Jus Soli vs Jus Sanguinis in the Past Decade
Those in favor of Jus Sanguinis argue that it gives its citizens a stronger link to Italy, because of the blood connection of all the Italians
Recently in March this year a new law was passed enforcing Jus Sanguinis, narrowing the eligibility for citizenship down to the last 2 generations (Parents and Grandparents)
Those in favor of Jus Soli argue that the current Jus Sanguinis is unfair for those born and raised in Italy, but have immigrant parents
Ius Culturae
Ius Scholae
An idea that would give citizenship to minors who don't have Italian blood, but have lived in Italy for many years and completed a certian amount of school
An idea that citizenship could be given out based on ones education and their intergration into Italian society
Personal Thoughts
I believe that Italian citizenship shouldn't be something exclusive to those with italian blood. it should be able to be earned by those who truly want to be apart of Italian society. Ideas such as ius culturae and ius scholae give everyone a chance, no matter their nationality to be apart of Italian society.
