1. Review different types of photography 2. Understand artistic terminology related to photography 3. Learn about our spotlight photographer for the week 4. One last call for extra credit images for student slideshow!
Event Photography
- Creates visual narratives of an event - Captures posed & candid moments - Think weddings, concerts, TED Talks, etc.
- The idea is that you are telling a story through photos- Photographers should be honest & impartial - Photographing current events
Photojournalism Photography
- Captures animals in their natural habitats- Sometimes captures important moments like migration - Must consider high levels of safety needs
Animal/Wildlife Photography
Portrait photography
- Tries to capture the identity, personality, & story of a person - Can be group shots or individuals - Can convey emotion and mood
Sports Photography
Art/Surrealist photography
- Creativity is central - Expresses ideas, thoughts, emotions, stories, & artistic expression - Can be done through editing or straight shooting - Surrealist is a type of art photography
micro & macro photography
Micro - close-ups of extremely small subjects, like cells and bacteria, usually photographing to allow a person to see something otherwise invisibleMacro - close-up shots of small subjects such as insects and flowers, usually photographing to make the small subject look bigger
Fashion Photography
- Shots of people that are well-known- Can be done for media & marketing
