With the Genially templates, you can include visual resources to wow your audience. You can also highlight a particular sentence or piece of information so that it sticks in your audience’s minds, or even embed external content to surprise them: Whatever you like!
Dimension 4
Did you know? We retain 42% more information when the content has movement. It may be the most effective resource for capturing your audience’s attention.
And use this space to caption it. You can upload an image from your computer or use the resources available in Genially, on the left side of the Editor. Knock their socks off!

Since we complete cross-linguistic activities in English, it was obvious to me and seeing my data, English was a real struggle for my kiddos. I noticed that my students that were really weak in English would not participate or work very little on English Days. I became partners with those that needed that motivation. I listened and gave them confidence. I aIso grouped students with stronger English with those that just needed a boost. I think this will only have to be done at the beginning of the year. I will continue to give them that confidence builder and ensuring that our space is safe in that they can make mistakes and be ok.
September
i-Ready will be my guide for my skill based teaching and learning. In reflecting on my data, I will need strong, explicit modeling and teaching in English. In looking at the data, the colors say it all. I will most definately be consistent with RGR. My goal is to try to get to lesson 4 within the week, especially on Fridays. That is our cross-linguistic day but I feel I can accomplish more with RGR.
Nov - Dec
For these two activities, I used a gallery walk and a group challenge for a task. I noticed that the kids loved the gallery walk. They were looking at the different ways it was solved and how it was different from their own. Next time I will use different activities at each table to differentiate the tasks. The group challenge was also a great hit because I used manipulatives. I think next time, I will use a timer because it was a little too time consuming.
October
In this activity, I used partner chats as a strategy to engage with their partners to discuss what was learned. It was also an excellent way to learn to listen and talk at the appropriate times. I think next time, I will make sure to NOT partner up students that are shy together. I will try to partner them up with someone that wil get them to talk. I noticed that the shy ones didn't really try to talk or listen. Then I noticed partners who definately didn't need to be together because all they did was talk but not about the expectation.

This month we set our sights on goals and movement. As we start the year, I wanted them to know that with the new year came the second half of second grade and it was going to go fast. We still had goals to meet. I also incorporated more brain breaks. I will continue to do and have also noticed that students even ask for them. They are becoming more aware of when they need a little break to continue to learn. I will also include the goals that are needed so that they understand where we need to be and go.
November-December
This year I noticed that my students were having great difficulty writing a complete sentence. I have a rubric that is in plain view for my student's to reflect. I also noticed that they had a lot of issues in writing everyday sight words. I gave them homework to learn them on a weekly basis. I will have to find time to allow them to write using the proper conventions. I will also have to promote student's successes in writing. I think I am to hard on the basics of writing and that doesn't reinforce their confidence. I will give careful feedback on recurring problems and reinforce positivity to promote writing.

For this activity, I used a cup stacking game. I wanted to observe how they worked as a group and how they problem solve as a group. It was quite interesting to see immediately who stepped in to figure out how to stack the cups. I could also tell you peristed or automatically gave up. I will use another type of problem-solving game because I noticed that many get frustrated with a challenge. I will also have to teach and model a lesson on grit.
October
This is the 2nd time that we do Trunk or Treat and it is always a great success. I was kind of worried because we sent out invitations to only 15-20 parents and we had close to 30-35 parents respond. I think our parents love this more than the kids! I think we should try to get more of our pre-k and kidner parents invited to show them how it would work and that way they can move along the way up with us as we do this every year.
If your genially includes info that is difficult to explain or understand, including graphs will help students understand and make sense of it. Still not convinced you need to use graphs to promote learning? Well, you should know that our brains love them, and if the content is animated, even better! Our brains retain 42% more information from dynamic stimuli.
And you leave your audience/class speechless.
Aug. - Sept.
We kicked off student and parent participation by having a piñata contest. The first couple of days, the table was empty and we even went and got a small piñata to motivate students. Towards that last few days before the deadline, the table was getting full. I think this greatly encouraged students who then encouraged parents. I think next time we could try to have parent volunteers as judges. We could even have a neighbor or two. We also got ready for our Trunk or Treat activity for the month of October.
You can add interactivityto your timeline.
With this feature ... You can add additional content that will excite your audience’s brains: videos, images, links, interactivity ... Whatever you like!
In Genially, we use AI (Awesome interactivity) in all our designs so that you can level up with interactivity and turn your teaching materials into something that engages.

I used different forms of assesment. My goal is give whole group, table groups and individual feedback. I noticed that whole group assessment allowed for real-time feedback and conversations. I noticed that in groups, the feedback was mostly among themselves and they were to listening. In individual feedback, students were eager to get a conversation with me on their work. I will continue to do this as I have noticed that it encourages active reflection, I will use this so that they also feel empowered to own learning. I will also continue to use small groups to reach the needed goals within i-Ready.
January
We began our new fundraiser this month. We created a new spreadsheet thanks to ChatGpt! Fingers crossed that it will work all month! We also are preparing for our February event. I think what I have learned this month is that I need to make sure that everything needs to be set. I need a checklist to ensure that I get a microphone, get the cafeteria ready and ensure that the teachers get the time and date. They were not happy but I understand. I got lost in my own circumstances that I should have done better. I will get it done better next time.

I absolutely loved this event! Our parents were involved and got to play and it was just F-U-N! I'm grateful that our wonderful PE team is always up to collaborating with us. Without them, we couldn't get it done! Next time, I will try to get parent feedback as soon as I can. I really want to know what they are thinking or wanting to do.
