Sign into your Gimkit account or create a new account:1. Go to www.Gimkit.com2. Click Sign Up for Free 3. Sign in with your email address 4. Select Educator 5. Select your country from the drop-down menu 6. Put in your school's zip code and select your school 7. Select your area of expertise and grade level 8. Click continue to create your account Start a new creative map: 1. From inside Gimkit, click Creative (top right) 2. Click Create New Map 3. Type a name for this practice map 4. Click Platformer and then Create

Add terrain
1. Click + (top right)2. Click Terrain 3. Select Grass 4. Place the grass terrain in a manner that the player would need to go to the right and jump from platform to platform. 5. (Optional) Switch terrain when getting to a new level 6. Try to make at least three levels. If you need to erase, click the eraser icon in the top left. Click the gear (settings) in the bottom left to adjust how far out it's zoomed in edit mode, as well as how quickly you move. You can also turn off gravity to move around easier

Add Questioner
Adding a Questioner (Provides the Questions players will answer)1. Click +, Devices, Search “questioner” and click on it to get a questioner you can place on the map. Place it near the start. After placing it, then click on it to add a question set(kit). For time purposes, just paste this one:https://www.gimkit.com/view/681e49374ffbdc169776f234 2. Go to the interface section and change the correct answer to “Correct! +50 Energy” and the incorrect answer to “Incorrect! -50 Energy” (You can pick a higher/lower amount)
Players earn energy for answering questions correctly 3. Click +, Devices, search “item granter” and place it near the questioner. Click the item granter and on “item to grant” select Energy, and then on “Amount to Grant” select 50 (or however many you want to give per question correct)
4. Click +, Wires, click on the questioner and then the item granter. Select “when answered correctly” and “grant item”

Energy
Track Energy 1. Click +, Devices, search “Game overlay” and place it near the questioner.
2. Click the overlay, and on “Overlay type” select Tracked Item. Under “Tracked item” select Energy. Make a Player's Movement tied to their Energy 1. Click +, Devices, search Movement meter, and place it near the questioner.
2. Click the movement meter and near “Tracked Item” select “energy”. Choose how much energy to lose per ticket (ex: 1, 5, etc.) and how quickly through “Drain interval”.
Give the Player some energy to start with (optional) Click +, Devices, search Starting Inventory, place the starting inventory near the questioner. Then click the starting inventory and edit item to grant to energy, granted item amount (however much you want to start with, ex 100, 1000, etc.),

Answer anywhere
Students can answer questions anywhere in the game 1. Click +, Devices, search “Game overlay” and place it. (Don't confuse it with the other one you placed) Then click on it to edit the settings: change Overlay type to button, choose Overlay position to bottom left, and Overlay text to “Answer Questions”
2. Click +, Wires, click the Overlay you just placed and then the questioner. When the menu pops up, click “button pressed” and then “Open Question Answering Screen”.
Create a Scoring System 1. Click options (the gear in the bottom left) and then Map Options. 2. Click Score and then next to “Score Type” select “Amount of a specific item”. Then change “score item” to “Energy” NOTE: The "Map Options" section is also where you can also configure whether the game is team-based and whether Player vs Player (PVP) is allowed. Click Score and then next to “Score Type” select “Amount of a specific item”. Then change “score item” to “Energy”

Add Slingshot and sentry ai
Add Slingshot to pick up:Click +, Devices, search “item spawner”. Place it on your map. Click the item and select which item and how many (ex: Slingshot, 1) Add a Sentry AI (Enemy) Click +, Devices, search Sentry, place the Sentry on your map (NOTE: Put the sentry in the air a little because if it’s too close to the ground, it will get stuck and not move). Click the Sentry to modify its setting (appearance, their difficulty, health, whether they respawn, drop items, etc.) For this example, I chose not to respawn and to drop a Gold Key. You can multiple Sentrys.

Add Checkpoint & end game settings
Add Checkpoints (to respawn if they die)Click +, devices, search checkpoint. Place the checkpoint where you want a player to respawn if they die. Click the checkpoint, go to Activation Limit and select once (this ensures if they reach a later checkpoint that they don’t go back to an earlier checkpoint) Add a way to win/end the game Click +, devices, search checkpoint. Place the checkpoint where you want the end game to trigger. Click on it, go to channels, go to “when checkpoint activated, transmit on” and type “end game”. Then click +, devices, search “end game” and place it near your checkpoint. Finally, click the end game flag and near “end the game when receiving on” select “end game”

1. Have your students play some of the different modes to learn the mechanics and level up their battle pass. 2. Introduce Creative in phases and chunk it based on grade level / interest: --Adding terrain --Add Sentry AIs and weapons --Customize whether its team/PVP, etc. --Add in Question Sets / Tie to Movement --Add dynamic soil, pickaxes --Add keys, barriers, teleporters --Add text, lasers, etc. --Let them discover new mechanics!
