It is the classification of the cities of a region according to their size, importance and the functions they perform, establishing an order of levels of influence and dependence between them.

Metropolis: VARSOVIA

It is the capital of Poland and its largest city

Regional city: KRAKOW

It is a regional town of Poland and it's locatted in the city of Little Poland

Local town: GDANSK

It is a local town of Poland and it's located in the city of Pomerania

VARSOVIA

  • Transport: train, bus and plane.
  • Services: public and private transportation, accommodation, food and local markets, freight transportation and business services.
  • Economy: A diversified economy based on services (especially professional, scientific and technical), technology, manufacturing and the financial sector.
  • Size: 517,2 km².
  • Function: Its main function is to be the capital of Poland.
  • Importance: Capital of Poland, political, economic and cultural center of the country, as well as a tourist destination.

KRAKOV

  • Transport: The train, the bus, the carpooling and the plane.
  • Economy: Mainly through tourism, technology services and the manufacturing sector.
  • Size: 327 km².
  • Function: Its main function is as a vibrant economic, cultural and tourist center at national and international level.
  • Importance: Great historical and cultural importance, being the former capital of Poland and a medieval center of power, trade and culture.

Gdnask

  • Transport: train, bus, plane and car sharing.
  • Economy: Through its role as a key logistics hub thanks to its seaport, which handles the majority of Poland's cargo. Furthermore, it contributes significantly to sectors such as industry and the environment, and represents a city with a developing service sector, which boosts the national economy.
  • SIze: 683 km²
  • Function: It is a historic commercial port on the Baltic Sea, a major industrial center with Poland's largest shipyard, a tourist destination for its architecture and rich history, and a center of historical memory for being the starting point of World War II and the birthplace of the Solidarity movement.
