La aurora boreal es un fenómeno luminoso que ocurre en las regiones polares delhemisferio norte. Se produce cuando partículas cargadas del Sol chocan con los gases de la atmósfera terrestre, generando luces de distintos colores.
Cómo se forma
El Sol emite constantemente un flujo de partículas conocido como viento solar. Cuando estas partículas llegan a la Tierra, el campo magnético terrestre las dirige hacia los polos. Al chocar con el oxígeno y nitrógeno de la atmósfera, liberan energía en forma de luz visible.
