GOALS

STEAM Goals of the Activity

Sustainable Development Goals

Hope you had an amazing travel experience.

S – Science

  • Students developed an understanding of marine environments and global ecosystems by exploring what ocean travel looks like and what environmental challenges our planet faces.
  • They learned about the relationship between humans and nature, including why we must protect clean seas and oceans.
T – Technology
  • Students created digital elements of the ship, using apps for designing, drawing, and presenting, gaining basic skills in working in a digital environment.
  • They practiced responsible and meaningful use of ICT tools while contributing to an international collaborative project.
E – Engineering
  • Children designed the ship’s structure and discussed how each part should function to ensure a safe and comfortable journey.
  • They developed problem-solving and spatial planning skills.
A – Art
  • Each class prepared an artistic part of the ship—illustrations, decorations, cabins, and creative symbols.
  • Students used their imagination to give the international “floating school” a unique and colorful character.
M – Math
  • While designing the ship, students calculated proportions, counted necessary elements, compared sizes, and organized spatial layouts.
  • They used mathematics in a practical, real-life design task.

South America

is known for the Amazon rainforest, tall mountains, and rich wildlife. Jaguars, llamas, and colorful birds live here. Its cultures blend ancient traditions with modern life, creating a lively and unique continent.

🌊✨ Gaia’s Story – Introduction to “Our Floating School” ✨🌊

My dear children, every morning when I open my eyes, I see the world alive with energy - the seas rocking their waves, the wind dancing through treetops, and animals moving along secret paths known only to them. But to truly understand the Earth… one must travel. One day, I looked at you - curious, brave, full of dreams - and I thought: “Yes! These are the companions I want to explore the world with!” But before us stretched oceans and endless waters that cannot be crossed on foot. So I invited you to take part in a magical mission: to build together a special ship - our floating school. This is no ordinary vessel. It is a ship created from your imagination, teamwork, and hearts full of positive energy. Each class, in every country, added something unique: masts made from your dreams, cabins full of creativity, a library filled with wisdom, a kitchen of flavors, a joyful deck, and even a captain’s room where we plan our next adventures together. When all your creations joined into one, something magical happened. Gaia’s Ship quietly set sail… It will carry us across the oceans - to Europe, Africa, Asia, the Americas, all the way to Australia and Oceania. On board, we will play, explore, learn, and grow into true Guardians of the Earth. And now, my little travelers… let’s step aboard our floating school and begin our journey to the first continent! The adventure starts now.
Africa

is a warm and colorful continent. It has deserts, rainforests, and savannas. Many animals live there, like lions, elephants, and giraffes. Its cultures are rich and diverse.

✔ Building a sense of community across countriesChildren created one shared ship, showing that despite different languages and cultures, they can work together and contribute equally.✔ Developing citizenship and social skillsStudents:

  • collaborated,
  • shared responsibilities,
  • made decisions,
  • took ownership of a collective product,
  • learned that every contribution matters.
✔ Introducing Gaia’s global journeyThe ship becomes a symbol of:
  • a shared educational adventure,
  • travelling across continents,
  • curiosity about the world and commitment to protecting the planet.
✔ Supporting creativity and project-based thinkingChildren designed real, tangible elements—the ship, illustrations, and decorations—expressing their creativity.✔ Building ecological awarenessThe “floating school” reminds us that by caring for the Earth, we are all sailing together toward a better future.

SDG 4 – Quality Education
  • The task promotes creative learning, international cooperation, and the development of 21st-century skills.
  • Students learn to see the world from a global perspective.
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities
  • The shared project connects children from different countries and cultures, encouraging tolerance, understanding, and open-mindedness.
SDG 14 – Life Below Water
  • The ocean-travel theme raises awareness of marine ecosystem protection and teaches why caring for underwater life is essential.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
  • The activity is an example of genuine international collaboration between schools in several countries.
  • Students see how teamwork across borders can lead to meaningful outcomes.
