1. ROOM FOR SET UP
Allow adequate room for the crane set up. Consider the turning radius, boom extension, outrigger extension and ground structure.
2. HAZARDS
Reduce, eliminate or avoid all overhead and underground hazards.
3. DEBRIS
Consider how and where the wood debris will be processed, either by being chipped or logs loaded onto a truck.
4. LANDING ZONE
Prepare a landing zone large enough to contain long or wide parts of the tree crown.
5. TRAFFIC CONTROL
Consider traffic and pedestrian control as well as electrical proximity, ground stability and anything that might pose a hazard to the operation.
